Giving a Helping Hand to Flood Victims
The recent flood in Kelantan and Pahang has seen many lives displaced, belongings lost and homes destroyed. Some of the affected lives included PROLINTAS staff’s family members.
More than 40 staff members volunteered to assist in the cleaning up works covering not just affected staff members’ family homes but public amenities such as schools.
The volunteers were broken up into groups and headed to affected towns in Kelantan and Pahang with cleaning tools loaded onto their 4-wheel drives or pick-ups.
Each home or school took almost a day to clear – from removing destroyed furniture and salvaging what was left to shovelling mud off what used to be clean, grey cement floors to spraying water to clean the muddy floors, walls and ceilings.
PROLINTAS also donated daily necessities such as mineral water, rice, oil, flour, canned food, sanitary pad for females, pampers for babies and others, to residents in the areas they visited.
